Global climate change and human-directed habitat destruction have created major problems for the animals which share our planet with us. Not only are up to 25% of the earth’s animal species in danger of becoming extinct by 2050, but habitat destruction has caused new diseases to spread among, and between, animals and humans. As Veterinarians, we are passionate about the need for animals to have a voice in these issues which so dramatically affect their lives. Therefore, we established the Pets for the Planet™ Permanent Endowment Fund in conjunction with the Madison Community Foundation to support animal health issues in perpetuity.
Pets for the Planet™ partners with other organizations to improve the lives of all animals.
We believe that by working with others, avoiding duplication of infrastructure, and concentrating our efforts on key
trigger points small organizations can have a disproportionately large impact on the issues facing animals today and in the future.
Pets for the Planet™ uses the skills of a Veterinarian to identify and support organizations which are able to leverage their activities to benefit animals to the greatest degree.
Tax deductible contributions can be made to the Pets for the Planet™ Fund using cash, appreciated stock, mutual funds, or on-line through www.madisoncommunityfoundation.org. Additionally, all profits from the sale of Pets for Planet™ Tags will also be used to support this endowment.
The world’s wildlife populations are threatened as never before in recorded history.
The Envirovet Summer Institute creates an international force of scientists with the necessary perspectives and expertise required to implement an efficient approach to repairing damaged ecosystems and to improve the health of wildlife, domestic animals, and humans.
Pets for the Planet™ supports this organization because it
teaches the leaders — a highly efficient method for creating change.
THE ALLIANCE FOR RABIES CONTROL
Rabies kills approximately 100 children, and countless animals every day, principally in Asia and Africa. This fatal disease can readily be controlled in a highly cost-effective and efficient manner by the mass vaccination of domestic dogs, thereby benefiting both dogs and humans. Pets for the Planet™ supports this organization because it addresses a serious disease in both animals and humans in an unusually cost-effective manner.
